Ever since I was a little kid I wanted to be in the movies, I saw Star Wars when I was 5 and wanted to be a Jedi. I grew up on a farm and other than riding horses and bikes and playing sports I had no formal training in Martial arts or Gymnastics. Right after high school in 2002 I looked around for the most recommended Stunt School, and the Australian Stunt Academy kept showing up… Even tho it was on the other side of the world I saved some pennies and flew off to meet Colin Handley and his amazing family at ASA. Over the 3 week course I learned the basics of what a well rounded performer should know. I wasn’t the best in the class but I worked hard and I remember specifically what Colin said about preparation and dedication. So I came back to Vancouver and trained with the core set of skills I learned at ASA.
I would go on to fly back to Australia to train with Colin on another advanced stunt course a year later where I honed more skills. And over the period of about 4 years I became a rookie stunt performer in Vancouver Canada. That was all over 15 years ago, I have been lucky enough to work on hundreds of TV series and movies, from Deadpool to Tron to Twilight to Godzilla to Tomorrowland and beyond I have been blessed with a fruitful career and I owe it all to starting at ASA and to Colin. I have stayed in touch with him and his family over the many years, his son Ryan and I are best friends and co-workers in Vancouver Canada. I cannot stress enough that if I had not taken the leap and travelled to Australia to train I would have never made it to where I am now.

Stunt Coordinator, and very talented Stuntman, NICK MCKINLESS, was an early graduate of Stunt Academy: His recent comments here.
Many moons ago I was a student on Colin Handley’s now world famous Australian Stunt Academy course.
The course was designed to be an intro to stunts – fights, falls, water stunts, car stunts, high falls, fire gags and much more.
Colin’s infectious personality and athleticism as a martial artist and stuntman were a big inspiration to me and all the other course attendees.
It’s no surprise to me that Colin’s son, Ryan, has gone on to match and possibly surpass his father in the stunt world as a stuntman for many Hollywood films and hit TV series.
Now some 20 years later, I look back fondly on that first visit to Australia and meeting Colin and all the other guys and girls from across the globe.
Bravo Colin! Here’s to another 20 years of the Australian Stunt Academy!!

Regarding my journey with the Stunt Academy, I already knew, since I was 5 years old, that I wanted to be a stuntman. From that time on, I had a lot of time and money to prepare to achieve my dream. I stayed focused.
I came to the Australia Stunt Academy in 2001, with the belief that I was the best stuntman in the world because I already had three stunt courses under my belt, and was very physically active as young! It became obvious that I was wrong. Over the years after my education at ASA, I have collected 32 stunt credits and 9 actor credits on IMDB that I am very proud of.The time I spent at ASA is some of the best I’ve experienced, so fun and rewarding. So I went back and participated in the Advanced Stunt Course in 2004. I was quite wild and undisciplined at the time, but got good advice and responsible training from Colin Handley and his instructors, who continued to help me become the stuntman I am today.
I am now 43 years old and I live in Sweden, and I can now say I am a successful Stuntman.
If you are thinking of trying this exciting profession as a stuntman, do not hesitate, just go and do it. You will not regret it, even if you fail to get into the stunt industry after the training, you will be guaranteed to get the best time of your life while you are at the Stunt Park, still learning many useful skills.Kind regards Roy Hansson Graduate 2001. 2004
Just graduated the 2 week course and absolutely loved it. Was jam-packed full of thrills and action. Was so much fun and a life time experience. Met some friends for life. Working alongside of Colin and Tim was a privilege. Very professional with lots of great knowledge they passed on about the stunt industry. What an eye opener.

I recently did my 2nd course at the academy (2 week professional) and it was absolutely the best thing I’ve ever done! I learnt so much in those 2 weeks, valuable education for someone like myself who is keen to work in the stunt industry. In addition to the extensive training, I met an awesome bunch of like-minded people from all over the world, all walks of life, between 15 & 50 years old, who will all be mates for life after sharing such a life-changing experience. Colin & his instructors are of world-class standards and I highly recommend the Australian Stunt Academy for anyone looking to further their skills or try something new and exhilarating.
